Ombudsman
Ombudsman Regulations first showed up in the 1987 Older American's Act.. Quality of Life: "care for its residents in such a manner and in such an environment as well promote maintenance or enhancement of the quality of life of each resident." Provision of Services and Activities; "provide services and activities to attain or maintaining the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident in accordance with a written plan of care which .. is initially prepared with participation to the extent practicable of the resident or the resident's family or legal representative" Participation in Facility Administration: "resident and advocate particiaption" a criteria for assessing a facility's compliancw with administration requirements. Assuring Access to the Ombudsman Program: (1) Facilities must grant immediate access by Ombudsmen to residents and resonable access to resident records. (2) Facilities must also inform residents how to contact the ombdusman to voice complaints or in the event of a transfer or discharge from the facility. (3) Requires state agencies to share inspection results with Ombudsmen |
